Estate of Tennis Legend Ivan Lendl Listed with William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty

World’s former top player puts Goshen, Conn. home on market for $19,750,000

Goshen, Conn. (July 2, 2014) — The 450-acre Litchfield County, Conn. estate of Ivan Lendl, the top-ranked tennis player in the world for several years during the 1980s, is the exclusive listing of William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, the firm has announced. Washington Depot agents Kathryn Clair and Pat Lahoud have the listing, which is offered at $19,750,000.

The property was previously listed in 2005 for $25 million, during a time when the market was at its peak. The estate was taken off the market and is now returning at a price that is in line with today’s market conditions in Litchfield County, the company said.

Lendl had the property’s four-level stone Georgian Manor residence constructed in 1992 after purchasing the land in the late 1980s. The home has 25,000 above-grade square feet of living space with 20 rooms, 10 bedrooms, and 12 full and three half baths. Interior details include slate floors, custom molding, raised paneling, four fireplaces and a custom double staircase. Athletic and recreational amenities include a lower-level regulation custom gymnasium of over 1,800 square feet, tennis court, basketball court, exercise room with steam rooms, game room, and indoor and outdoor swimming pools.

The gated property also has a caretaker’s/guest house, cabana, horse barn and paddock. Views extend from the house over the acreage encompassing meadows, pastures, formal gardens and the surrounding Connecticut foothills.

“This exquisite and one-of-a-kind property is a pastoral paradise, and a wonderful opportunity for the buyer who appreciates both fine craftsmanship and outdoor living,” said Clair.

Lahoud added, “It is our honor and privilege to be able to market this stunning estate, which will forever remain part of the legacy of one of the world’s most important and renowned athletes.”
