William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty Joins Bike Ride in Support of Cancer Survivors

Local real estate firm raises funds for the fourth year in a row to benefit the Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship

Southport, Conn. (June 28, 2016) — William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty today announced that the firm is participating in the 12th annual fund-raising bike ride held by the Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship, an organization that provides assistance and resources for cancer survivors. 2016 marks the company’s fourth year supporting the cause, where a new goal has been set to have at least 50 riders participate, and raise more than $50,000.

The cycling event, which includes several routes for riders to choose from ranging from 10 to 100 miles, will be held on July 29 and 30, 2016, with bike rides beginning from the Fairfield County Hunt Club in Westport, Conn. Staff and agents from William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty will raise funds by riding together as “Team Sotheby’s,” as well as by offering donations online. Members of the public can donate as well by visiting the company’s team page here.

Participating members of “Team Sotheby’s” for this year’s challenge include President and CEO of William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty Paul Breunich, Chief Operating Officer Vin Socci, President of BLT Paul Kuehner, as well as several brokerage managers, agents and staff members. Last year, the firm had 21 riders and raised more than $30,000 for the cause.

Proceeds from the ride will fund survivorship programs as well as research in exercise, nutrition and community support to help cancer survivors, who typically need follow-up care for long after their treatment ends but often stop receiving support at that time. The Connecticut Challenge Center for Survivorship said that last year’s event raised funds to assist over 54,000 cancer survivors.

“This event is important to countless families in the community, and impacts many of us on more personal levels,” said Breunich. “People consistently ask, ‘Why do you ride?’—that question has become a real theme for this great organization. Some of us ride as survivors or in support of them, and others ride for the courageous battlers who succumbed to cancer and cannot ride with us today. We ride for them, in honor of them and because they would want us to promote the continued drive for a cure. We also ride to enable survivors and current battlers to be stronger, look to brighter days ahead and to understand the amount of support that always surrounds them.”

“Everyone has been touched by cancer on some level, either directly or through a friend or family member,” said Brad Kimmelman, who is once again serving as the Team Sotheby’s captain.  “We now have an opportunity to help those either currently being treated, or those who have made it through and survived by participating in the CT Challenge Fundraising Bike Ride on July 30th. Thank you to everyone who has shown and continues to show their support as we strive to beat our own challenge, and reach this impressive new goal.”
