William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Hosts Artist Reception as Part of “Sundays at Sotheby’s” Series

Rowayton, Conn. – June 27, 2016 William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the firm’s Rowayton brokerage will be hosting an artist reception as part of the “Sundays at Sotheby’s” series, a monthly program in which the office welcomes new local art to display in its office. The reception is typically held on the first Sunday of each month. Local artist Alissa Morabito will introduce her work on Sunday, July 3, 2016 from 4-6 PM.

Alissa Morabito grew up surrounded by the coastal landscape of Southern California before moving to the small New England town of Washington Depot, Conn. Her early years by the beach deeply influenced Morabito’s artistic style, lending itself to a laid back, coastal feel. Upon unpacking for her new life in Connecticut, Morabito came across a package of liquid gold leaf that exploded after opening. Inspired by her brilliantly stained hands, Morabito decided that from then on, all her paintings, drawing and scrawls would be gilded. Throughout the years, her works maintained this trademark style, while also expanding to encompass the notion of how things, both physical and non-physical, disintegrate with neglect. This artistic realization was both fascinating and heartbreaking for Morabito, serving as her strong drive to visually express what cannot be found in words.

“I find this process interesting because it’s the same with people, and in both situations the result are often nearly imperceptible,” said Morabito. “There is beauty in imperfection and grace in experience.”

During the upcoming July 3rd event, the Rowayton office will showcase a display of Morabito’s paintings and drawings. Wine and hors d’oeuvres will be served in a casual setting with opportunities to talk with Morabito, and discuss her work. All events of the evening are open to the public.

“We are thrilled to welcome yet another amazing local artist during this month’s event,” said Darien agent Molly Crosland, who spearheads much of the brokerage’s artist series. “Alissa’s work is stunningly complex and deep, encouraging all to see the world from a whole new perspective—one that finds beauty in all things.”
