William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Manager Participates in 24-Hour Hockey Game to Support Cancer Research

Westport, Conn. (August 12, 2014) — Marc Caldarone, William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty’s Westport brokerage manager, recently participated in the second annual Skate 24, a 24-hour-long charity hockey game that raises money for The Jimmy Fund, a 501(c)(3) organization that supports cancer research and care at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Mass.

Caldarone played the position of goalie for several three-hour shifts over the course of the 24 hours. Sponsors of the event, held at the Sono Ice House in Norwalk, Conn. on August 9-10, included Vineyard Vines, Reebok, the NHL and the New York Giants.

Last year’s event raised $46,000 toward cancer research, while achieving the record at the time for the longest continuous hockey game in American history, according to Skate 24 founder Dave LoPresti. Funds are raised through admission and individual participants’ online donation pages as well as through a silent auction and raffle.

“I am honored to have had the privilege of playing alongside so many great hockey players including professional NHL and AHL athletes in order to raise money for such an important cause,” said Caldarone. “I am very thankful to everyone who supported me with their donations, and for helping to make a difference in the fight against cancer.”
