Situated at the western foot of the Taconic Mountains, Copake Falls is a rural hamlet comprising .22 square miles in the town of Copake within Columbia County.

The Columbia County hamlet of Copake Falls is a portion of the town of Copake located about 1.5 miles west of the Massachusetts state line. Once known as Copake Iron Works, the rural community is situated along Bash Bish Brook at the foot of the Taconic Mountains. Although small in area at .22 square miles, the hamlet has huge geographic assets, as it is situated within two miles of the highest waterfall in bordering Massachusetts, Bash Bish Falls. And just east of the hamlet residents and visitors enjoy myriad hiking trails and campsites at the Copake Falls area of the popular Taconic State Park. During winter months, the area also offers a wealth of outdoor recreational options including cross country skiing, snowshoeing and miles of snowmobile trails. Several key areas are listed on the National Register of Historic Places: the Copake Iron works Historic District and the former Copake Falls Methodist Episcopal Church.
