The Taconic Hills Central School, designed for a capacity of 2,000 students and featuring a two-story atrium, community center and 1,000-seat performing arts center, is said to be one of New York’s largest schools. Residents take pride in the town’s historic structures. Among the hamlet’s notable buildings are the Craryville United Methodist Church and the historic train station, which at one time provided both passenger and freight train service until the dismantlement of the tracks north of Wassaic in early 1980.
