A former practicing attorney, he is a skilled negotiator with over 36 years of experience in litigation and corporate law, the music entertainment and fashion industry, and real estate, all of which he brings to bear in service of his clients’ best interests.
As evidenced by the many testimonials that he has amassed over the years, DeWayne is well liked and praised by his clients. Whether their budget is $10 or $10MM he’ll do the necessary research to find the “one” and will go the full distance to help them overcome any obstacles and get to the closing table—from creative deal structuring to keeping a watchful eye on the transaction details that can mean the difference between failure and success.
DeWayne and his husband live between a classic-six pre-war apartment in the Washington Heights section of NYC and a ca. 1850 center hall colonial farmhouse in Ghent (upstate NY). The farmhouse sits on 48 acres of fertile soils, on which the famed Hawthorne Valley Farm purveyors have been known to grow hay, wheat, and barley and where grazing cattle dot the fields in spring, summer, and fall. Politically active and a self-described “chronic volunteer,” DeWayne is a former long-serving member of the Hudson Area Library Board of Trustees and a current member of the board of Perfect Ten After School, Inc. He is also an active member of his law school’s black alumni organization.
DeWayne is a native of Nassau, Bahamas, and is a graduate of both Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business and Boston College Law School. He is a frequent traveler, loves engaging with people of diverse cultures—and is an especially avid fan of anything Brasilian. He has a conversational knowledge of Portuguese, Spanish, French and German. The child of West Indian immigrants, he is fluent in Jamaican patois.
DeWayne has been actively practicing real estate since March 2014.
