MY STORY: When my grandmother was 8 years of age, she emigrated from Calabria, Italy to the U.S. with nothing more than dreams of a better life. Without knowing a word of English, she worked extremely hard to assimilate into this foreign world and became a U.S. citizen. She was a strong, independent woman, who was also sociable and compassionate. She loved helping others and creating opportunities that brought people together. While working at Sears in the Home Improvement Office and Cambridge University Press, she discovered that she loved communicating with people. She took time off of work to raise two wonderful children, and once they were old enough to attend school, she reentered the workforce. Determined to fully maximize her potential, she decided to enter into the real estate field. With unmatched capabilities and years of hard work, she quickly rose to the top of the game, working with builders to pioneer the now so popular trend of "flipping houses". She is now a successful Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker at Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty. I am proud to call Maria Stilo my grandmother.

Years later, her son, my uncle, was gifted with a similar drive and passion. He attended Clarkson University and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He entered into a sales job and worked there for many years with success, but after the September 11th attacks, his company went under and thousands of people lost their jobs. Now starting over, with a fire burning in his young, entrepreneur soul, he decided to follow in his mother's footsteps and a obtained his real estate license. He started out by working at a mom and pop real estate firm, where he quickly made a name for himself in a hugely competitive business. With years of hard work, he too, rose to the top. He consistently ranks among the top in the country and has sold homes at every price point. With an impressive resume, he has sold over $200 million of real estate. He is a proud father of four and a dedicated husband. He stays very active in the local community, volunteering his time, coaching youth athletic teams. He is now a successful Licensed Associate Real Estate Broker at Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty. I am proud to call Joseph Stilo my uncle.

And then there's me, a 3rd generation realtor. Growing up, I was always running "micro businesses", anything from auctioning off items on eBay to fixing up old furniture and selling it for a profit. As a former baseball player, football player, and wrestler, I understand the importance of dedication, discipline and hard work which is crucial in real estate. And having the best mentors in the game, I have been able to quickly sharpen my skills. I have always had a heart for helping others, and there is no other feeling like handing a family the keys to their new home! My name is Matthew Oliva and I am a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson at Julia B. Fee Sotheby's International Realty. What can I say? It's in our blood.....
