Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty Represents Seller in Highest Sale in New Rochelle, N.Y., in 12 Years

New Rochelle, N.Y. (October 10, 2019) — Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty announced today that the recent sale of 10 Sheldrake Lane in New Rochelle, N.Y., listed with the firm’s Larchmont brokerage, was the highest sale in New Rochelle since 2007. Gay Rosen represented the seller in the $3.4 million transaction that closed on October 7, 2019.

The seven-bedroom, seven full and two half-bath estate, known as “Four Chimneys,” is set on 1.55 acres and offers outdoor recreation amenities such as an infinity pool, basketball court and water access to Sheldrake Lake. Inside, the approximately 8,000 square-foot residence includes a ballroom or gym overlooking the perennial garden and an indoor basketball court. In the years since its completion in 1938, “Four Chimneys” has been renovated, and scenes from the 2004 film “The Manchurian Candidate” were shot there along with the soap opera “All My Children.”

The home was built by renowned architects McKim Meade & White, a firm which, in its heyday, became the country’s largest and perhaps most significant architectural firm. Some of the firm’s more famous commissions included the Boston Symphony in 1892, renovations to the White House in 1902, as well as New York’s original Madison Square Garden and Pennsylvania Station.

“I’m incredibly proud of Gay, who spent so many hours working on this listing that even the buyers thanked her,” said Larchmont Brokerage manager Jane Murray. “It is a privilege to be part of this record-setting sale of such an exceptional home.”

“Her above and beyond approach to attention to details and breadth of knowledge about the real estate industry couldn’t be matched by any other professional in her field,” said the homeowner, reflecting on the experience of working with Rosen.
