Rye, N.Y. (June 3, 2014) — Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty recently sponsored a special spin cycle class at SoulCycle cycling studio to raise funds in support of the Challenged Athletes Foundation (CAF), which provides opportunities to athletic individuals with physical disabilities.
SoulCycle instructor Mandy Brooks taught the class, which was held on the evening of June 3, 2014. The company raised money for CAF by selling spots in the class to 47 people including 33 agents from the firm’s Rye brokerage as well as friends and family members.
Agents rallied behind the event after two members of CAF visited the Rye brokerage to tell their stories. Amy Dixon, who just won the US bronze medal in her division of the Pan American Triathlon Confederation paratriathlon championships in Dallas, Tex., discussed her struggles with blindness and how the CAF has helped her. Sam Cila, a military veteran who lost his arm and now competes in extreme sports such as the Ironman triathlon, also spoke with the agents about CAF.
The event was spearheaded by Rye brokerage manager Pati Holmes and Rye agents Ken Harris, Peggy Shepard and Susan McDonnell.
“After learning about the extraordinary achievements of Amy Dixon and Sam Cila, we were deeply inspired and knew we had to get involved with the Challenged Athletes Foundation,” said Holmes. “I am proud of each of our agents for participating and giving their support to this meaningful cause.”
