Top-Producing Hudson Valley Real Estate Agent Joseph Briggs Joins William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty in Chatham, N.Y.

Chatham, N.Y. (February 5, 2024) — William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty has announced that seasoned real estate agent Joseph Briggs has joined the firm in Chatham, N.Y. The announcement comes on the heels of the firm’s recent expansion, with the opening of its first office in Columbia County, N.Y.

Briggs is a top-producing sales professional in New York’s Hudson Valley including Columbia, Dutchess, Ulster and Greene Counties, as well as the Albany/Capital Region and the Berkshires, Mass., foothills. Specializing in Hudson Valley country homes and weekend properties including waterfront homes, mountaintop residences, equestrian properties, farms, agricultural land and commercial real estate, Briggs has established himself as a market leader with a real estate career spanning over 16 years.

In recognition of his outstanding achievements, Briggs has received numerous accolades, including being named in the 2023 REAL Trends list of “America’s Best” Real Estate Professionals, an honor granted to the top 1.5% agents in the nation based on performance achieved the prior calendar year. He earned the title of Hudson Valley Magazine‘s Top Real Estate Agent in the same year. At his previous company, Houlihan Lawrence, he held the No. 1 agent position by sales volume in Columbia County in 2022 and was the No. 2 agent in 2022 for Millbrook, Rhinebeck and Hudson. Additionally, Briggs secured the No. 1 agent spot out of 1,450 agents in 2022 for the Houlihan Lawrence Luxury Private Brokerage.

William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty opened its Chatham office earlier this year in order to strengthen the company’s commitment to serving the real estate needs of buyers and sellers throughout the Hudson Valley region. The company said the expansion is a strategic move to build upon its successes in the neighboring regions of Berkshire County, Mass., and Litchfield County, Conn. The firm has achieved number one market share in both counties.

Upon joining William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, Briggs expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Embarking on this journey feels like a natural evolution. Associating with this distinguished brand is akin to the discerning choice one makes when selecting a luxury automobile – where certain brands effortlessly set the standard against which all others are measured. Joining William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty was not merely a decision; it was an inevitable alignment with a legacy of excellence I’ve long admired and now will proudly contribute to.”

Briggs also emphasized Sotheby’s International Realty’s global network as a significant benefit and highlighted the brand’s tech-forward approach. He said that the reach of the brand will help to attract more real estate consumers to the Hudson Valley and noted that Chatham serves as a key central location to the region, marking the ideal town for William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty to enter with a brick and mortar presence.

Stephanie McNair, Sales Team Leader for the Chatham brokerage, stated, “We are thrilled to welcome Joseph Briggs to our firm. He has a well-earned reputation among his clients as extremely knowledgeable, resourceful, honest, kind and hardworking. We look forward to the strengths he will bring to our growing office in Chatham and the entire William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty team.”

Apart from his real estate expertise, Briggs has a passion for organic and biodynamic gardening, sustainable ethical food production, and sales and marketing in the organic food business. His deep affection for the Hudson Valley extends to its vibrant organic farms, a facet of the area he holds dear. His hands-on experience in steering an organic food business from 2015 to 2016, particularly focusing on sales and marketing, has contributed to his success in real estate. Notably, one of his earliest customers from that venture recently referred him to a homeowner, whose property he very recently sold.

Prior to venturing into the real estate industry, Briggs worked as a musician, showcasing his talents in multi-genre music performance and production across Manhattan, Boston, London and Los Angeles.
