Stamford, Conn. (October 22, 2014) —William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty today announced that the company recently hosted a special Agent Safety training class with guest speaker Thomas Grimes. A 20-year New York City Police Department veteran and a featured guest on The Today Show, Grimes is co-founder of New York’s Finest Speakers, a Law Enforcement Public Speakers Bureau dedicated to educating the public on internet awareness and safety for real estate agents.
With the issue of safety having recently made headlines in the wake of the tragic events surrounding Arkansas real estate agent Beverly Carter, William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty sought to educate members of its sales force of approximately 1,200 agents on ways to protect themselves while doing business. According to Grimes, 51 agents were killed from 2012-2013 and 169 agents from 2008-2013, with attacks usually unpredictable and unprovoked, and robbery the common motive.
The seminar, held on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Italian Center of Stamford, Conn., was facilitated by Kim-Marie Mullin, the company’s Director of Education and Training. Agents from all of the firm’s offices throughout Fairfield, Litchfield and New Haven Counties, Conn., Westchester County, N.Y. and Berkshire County, Mass. were invited to attend.
