William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Hosts Artist Reception for “Light up Rowayton”

Darien, Conn. – December 2, 2014 William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty recently hosted an open house artist reception at the firm’s Rowayton brokerage for the community’s annual holiday kick-off event “Light up Rowayton,” held on Sunday, November 30th.  Darien agent Molly Crosland, a Rowayton resident, spearheaded the showcase, which featured work from brother and sister artists Rob Morris and Joan Manning.

Joan Manning is a graduate of Bennington College and a student of portraiture artist Pamela duLong Williams, while her brother Rob Morris is a Dartmouth graduate and former student of Paul Sample and Clyde Smith of the Silvermine Arts Center.  Both are prizewinning artists and are noted in many private collections.

Sunday’s event marked the siblings’ fourth joint art show, where more than 200 people walked through the firm’s Rowayton brokerage to view their work, as well as partake in hot cocoa, candy canes and wine.

“Our office open house for the Light up Rowayton festivities was a huge success,” said Crosland. “Next year, we will definitely need more hot cocoa, candy canes and wine. The hundreds of visitors who stepped through our office to view Rob and Joan’s art were nothing but complimentary of their work.  I want to thank Deborah Cole and Vicki Gatling for their support, and of course, my fabulous mentors Nancy and Phil Crosland.”

“Light up Rowayton,” sponsored by the Rowayton Civic Association, took place in downtown Rowayton and Pinkey Park, where each year, twinkling lights come alive during the annual holiday town lighting.  Festivities throughout the evening included caroling, the lighting of the Christmas tree at dusk, a stroll down Rowayton Avenue to view the window decorations created by local merchants, and a warm beverage and snack compliments of the Rowayton Market. The annual Eggnog Contest outside of the market and other local shops completed the night.
