William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Releases Annual 2014 Market Report

2014 concludes with unit sales very close to 2013 sales levels

Berkshire County, Mass. – January 15, 2015 – A report detailing 2014 market results in the Berkshires has just been released by William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty, the company announced today. The report stated that annual results in 2014 closely paralleled those of 2013, securing the gains of that watermark year.

In the Southern Berkshires, annual sales were 2% higher than 2013 due to a resurgence in fall buying activity, with fourth quarter single-family home sales standing 4% higher than the same period of 2013. The report found that the Northern Berkshires was quieter, with inconsistent sales performance across price points. Higher price ranges, including homes priced above $500,000, typically drove sales in 2014.

“The inventory levels in Berkshire County allow for buyers at every price level to find a home in this idyllic area where culture meets nature,” said Matthew Day, regional brokerage manager of the William Pitt Sotheby’s International Realty Berkshires office. “With homes moving at various price points and buyers showing their appreciation for all that this county offers, the year has ended on a positive note. 2015 looks equally as good.”

“2014 will best be remembered as the year where we secured the robust gains of 2013 and positioned our market for strong future growth,” said Paul Breunich, President and Chief Executive Officer of William Pitt and Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty. “With the economy strengthening and consumer confidence rising, as well as an expected loosening of credit in 2015, we believe this year will be one of forward movement for our local housing market.”
