Sotheby’s International Realty Announces Launch of WeChat in China

The Sotheby’s International Realty® brand is pleased to announce the launch of their official WeChat account. WeChat is a Chinese social media app and is also the most used social media platform in the world with nearly 940 million active users. The brand’s presence on WeChat will allow the network an unprecedented opportunity to reach prospective Chinese home buyers.

The WeChat advertising campaign is live and targets an audience of qualified high net worth individuals. The target audience demographic includes those living in the Shanghai and Beijing area over the age of 25. This demographic features a potential audience pool of 2.6 million people.

The campaign will reach Chinese real estate consumers in large luxury markets in China, encouraging viewers to follow the brand’s channel and expand Sotheby’s International Realty reach through following, liking, commenting and sharing functionalities.

WeChat provides text messaging, hold-to-talk voice messaging, broadcast messaging, video conferencing, video games, sharing of photographs and videos and location sharing. It can exchange information with people nearby via Bluetooth and integrates with social networking services such as those run by Facebook. Photos may also be enhanced with filters and captions, and a machine translation service is available.
