Bedford

Approximately one hour north of New York City lies the Westchester County town of Bedford. The 39.4-square-mile community has about 18,000 residents, spread out among its three hamlets of Bedford Hills, Katonah and Bedford. At one time, Bedford hosted dairy farms and grand estates. Today, it is primarily a residential community with an interesting past. Bedford Village is home to Westchester County’s oldest government building: the circa-1787 courthouse. Additional landmarks include the Bedford Green, the Bedford Free Library on the Village Green and the Bedford Oak, a massive tree that has grown along Route 22 for more than three centuries.

Bedford is bordered to the north by Lewisboro, to the south by Armonk in the town of North Castle, to the east by Pound Ridge and to the west by Mount Kisco.
