At a time when we are all adapting to a new normal, I’d like to share with you how we are addressing the current situation at William Pitt-Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty.
With the health of our agents, employees, clients and families our top concern, we made the decision last week for staff and agents to begin working remotely. During this time, we are able to serve any of your real estate needs thanks to our fully operational remote support staff and our robust technology suite, enabling each of us to be in sync 24/7. We are conducting business as usual. Our position is that while our location has changed, our commitment to providing an exceptional level of service to you has not.
Our procedures are different based on each state where we do business:
The State of Connecticut has deemed real estate transactions and related services essential businesses. With the governor’s request to “Stay Home, Stay Safe” as much as possible being our highest priority, we are keeping our physical offices closed while continuing business in a way that ensures we follow the CDC’s safety protocols.
Per the state’s guidelines on essential activities, agents can enter properties with a limited number of other individuals present, including purchasing decision-makers, inspectors and for final walk-throughs, and also give property access to appraisers. The state-of-the-art technology we are equipped with means that activities capable of being completed remotely will be. Through sophisticated video conferencing, our agents can provide face-to-face, on-demand virtual showing experiences to prospective purchasers if parties do not wish to visit in person. Our conferencing technology also gives agents a powerful way of maintaining constant communication with clients, while our online transaction management system allows us to complete all stages of the real estate process—from showing to closing—in a virtual world.
The State of Massachusetts has deemed real estate transactions and related services essential businesses. The governor has issued guidelines that real estate agents are permitted to show houses and complete closings provided they observe social distancing measures.
The State of New York has deemed real estate transactions and related services non-essential businesses. At this time, in-person property showings are not possible due to the state mandate. Yet as in Connecticut, the state-of-the-art technology we are equipped with makes our properties accessible through video tours, 3D tours, high-resolution photography and more on williampitt.com. Our superior conferencing technology enables agents to maintain face-to-face communication with clients and prospective clients, allowing for virtual listing presentations and property consultations, and through our online transaction management system, transactions in progress can be completed. For anyone considering entering the market soon, we can assist during this period with preparing to list or begin a property search when the time is right.
As a company we are advising sellers not to remove their listings from the market during this upcoming period. Williampitt.com has in fact shown a spike in visitors and property views in recent days. We believe this uptick suggests serious buyers are still active in the market and continuing their property searches from their homes.
While weathering the storm brings challenges, we are prepared and equipped in these unprecedented times to move our business in a forward direction. As the world works toward a common goal of finding an end to the COVID-19 pandemic, this is our commitment to you:
We will do everything we can to ensure the safety of our clients, agents, staff and the communities we serve, while providing an unwavering level of extraordinary service and dependability to you.
If we can be of assistance, please contact one of our agents. We are here to help you find your new home—from home.
I hope you stay well and safe.
