Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty Sponsors the Perfect Workout

The key to a successful workout is acquiring the perfect motivation.  On the evening of June 3, 2014, Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty sponsored a special spin cycle class at SoulCycle cycling studio.  The goal was to support the Challenged Athletes Foundation, providing the ideal incentive to raise both heart rates and funds for a worthy cause.

This non-profit organization, often referred to as CAF, was established in 1997 with the initial hope to assist one athlete paralyzed in a triathlon.  Such a modest beginning has clearly turned into something great, with CAF now providing support and opportunities to countless athletic individuals with physical disabilities.

Organized by Rye brokerage manager Pati Holmes and Rye agents Ken Harris, Peggy Shepard and Susan McDonnell, the company raised money to contribute to this inspirational mission by selling 47 spots in a spin class led by SoulCycle instructor Mandy Brooks. 33 agents from Julia B. Fee Sotheby’s International Realty’s Rye brokerage along with family and friends all became energized cyclists, encouraged by the emotional stories of two CAF members who visited the office.

Amy Dixon, US bronze medal winner in her division of the Pan American Triathlon Confederation paratriathlon championships in Dallas, Texas, discussed her struggles with being blind and the support CAF provided.  Military veteran Sam Cila also shared his story, explaining how even after losing his arm in service, he still competes in extreme sports such as the Ironman triathlon.

What better motivation is there than listening to these incredible stories of perseverance and both physical and emotional strength?  “After learning about the extraordinary achievements of Amy Dixon and Sam Cila, we were deeply inspired and knew we had to get involved with the Challenged Athletes Foundation,” said Holmes.  “I am proud of each of our agents for participating and giving their support to this meaningful cause.”  And so it seems it’s safe to say that on this warm spring evening in June, a successful workout took place.
