Stephen Schoenfeld

Stephen and Thom were wonderful to work with and always responded quickly to my questions and concerns. They eased the stress of the selling process and helped me find good repair people etc. They guided me through the process with confidence and smiles. A big thanks to both of them. Susan C. Lint

I just closed on my dream property with the help of Joanna and Stephen. Throughout the search, they were both knowledgeable, thoughtful, responsive, and kind. I couldn't recommend them enough! Hannah Star

Thank you, Stephen Schoenfeld for finding us a home in the Berkshires, actually two homes. Having spent 20 plus years with second homes on Martha’s Vineyard and Cape Cod, we decided in the middle of COVID to go west to the Berkshires, a place we had visited often for Tanglewood, Jacobs Pillow and teaching our kids how to ski at Butternut. We were fortunate to be introduced to Stephen Schoenfeld who took us under his excellent guidance and offered his encouragement of “Don’t worry I’ll find you a house.” Our original goal was to find a home in Lenox, but listings were few and nothing to our liking. So, we cast our net wider and Stephen came through with a lovely house in Great Barrington that just came on the market. We were the first to view it and made an offer on the spot. Not only did he find us a home, but he introduced us to service people, restaurants, places to walk our standard poodle and more. After three years in Great Barrington, we kept an eye on MLS listings in Lenox and Stephen always made time available to have us view homes that we thought might be our next destination. Stephen suggested we consider a condo that was unfinished but available in a lovely neighborhood. If we put a deposit on the condo, could he sell our house in GB? Again, it was “Don’t worry, I’ll sell your house.” So, with our confidence and trust in Stephen, we moved forward. He came through and sold our GB house and we now enjoy our wonderful new home in Lenox. So, thank you Stephen for your professionalism, your persistence, and your friendship. Joanna Szwyd and Stephen Schoenfeld kept me informed through every aspect of the sale of my home. I appreciated their honesty and ability to communicate in a timely and effective manner. It was a pleasure working with both of them seamlessly. The photography was especially amazing . If I were going to buy or sell any other property, they would be the first and only agents I would call. I highly recommend William Pitt Sothebys International Agency. Penelope P. Stephen and Joanna,I really appreciate all of the hard work and perseverance from both of you on getting my house sold. You did a great job!Hope you both have a safe, happy and healthy New Year! Thanks Again,Alex Alex Jiron

My husband and I purchased a home in Egremont for which Stephen was the broker and we ended up using him as the buyer's representative as well. I thought he managed the somewhat complicated process of representing both the seller and us incredibly well, and always felt that he kept our best interests in mind (while still getting a more than fair price for the seller). There were a couple of times in the transaction where I mentioned something in passing that I needed in connection with the sale. When I went back a month later to remind Stephen, it turned out it was already taken care of! Stephen is low key and not pushy, but also very effective. Just what you might want in a broker but often can't find! He is also a very generous and caring person, which makes working with him the utmost pleasure. I would recommend Stephen unconditionally if you are considering selling your home or having him represent you as a buyer. Aliana Spungen

When my late husband and I thought about selling our house one name came to mind, Stephen Schoenfeld. Why? Good question. Determined, sincere, truthful, educated, knowledgeable, concerned, respected and a real nice guy! Stephen was with me as I encountered this process as a widow. He guided me and listened to my questions. He stood by me and helped me on this journey to sell and buy a house in the Berkshires. I felt comfortable with my decisions knowing that Stephen “had my back” at all times. I’m grateful to really know Stephen Schoenfeld and Sotheby’s is fortunate to have him as part of their organization.Anne Schnesel Anne Schnesel

I want to express how grateful I am to Stephen Schoenfeld and Joanna Szwyd for their help with our recent purchase of a property in Egremont. They were the most amazing real estate team I have ever had the luck to work with! Stephen Schoenfeld was a lifesaver, as well as an absolute gem. Stephen brought the perfect property to our attention, and then facilitated complex communication to help us acquire our dream house. He went WAY above and beyond to be helpful—with the buyer in one part of the state, the property in another part, and the sellers in another state altogether, Stephen’s expertise was essential every step of the way. Stephen is also so kind and personable, he was an absolute pleasure to work with. His sidekick Sophie--the sweetest Burmese Mountain Dog ever—brought joy and levity to the situation as well! Joanna was abroad while the negotiations for our dream house were underway, but she seemed to be available 24 hours a day. Joanna brought a calming, expert presence into every stressful moment. I knew I could reach out to her for effective advice and reassurance any time.We now own our dream property and we could not be happier. We understand that the sellers were extremely happy as well. We are so grateful that Stephen and Joanna so gracefully facilitated the transfer of a treasured family property from the former owners to us. We would go to them again for any real estate dealings in the Berkshires in a heartbeat. Heather Thompson-Brenner, Ph.D. & Daniel Brenner, M.D.

Stephen is a seasoned professional with significant knowledge of the Berkshires. He showed us several properties that were magnificent. His business background adds negotiating expertise that helps facilitate any transaction. Stephen is a particularly generous guy with a wonderful personality. He is a pleasure to work with. If you are looking for a home in the Berkshires, you must talk to Stephen Schonfield. Richard Rose

Sales process just beginning, but we are optimistic. Stephen is hard working and knowledgable, and fun to work with. Selling our home probably will require a special approach, and Stephen is good at coming up with new ideas and enthusiastic and diligent about trying them. William Harris

Stephen has listed 1 property for us and is going to be listing another within the month. He is smart, resourceful, engaging and very professional. He has made excellent suggestions to help increase viewings etc.Jonathan Taylor Jonathan Taylor

Now that we are settled in our new apartment I want to take the time to thank both of you for all you did in the sale of our home. From our initial interview I was certain that you had our best interests at heart. We had your help in setting up our initial price. You went to considerable effort to be sure that our Zillow page presented the best possible picture. In doing that you spent a great deal of time and effort with great success. Your advice on how to stage our home for the showings was invaluable. Once we had a contract of sale you assumed the responsibility of guiding us in the handling of every issue right up to the closing. In every instance this was done with a full heart and a desire to make the emotional and difficult task of selling our home easier for us. We cannot thank you enough. W. & I. R.

Stephen Schoenfeld and Joanna Szwyd of Stone House Properties came aboard as our agent to sell our home in Mill River village in the Berkshire Hills area of Massachusetts after the original agent was unable to produce any meaningful prospects. They first produced a set of “virtual” scenes to show what the interior could look like instead of empty rooms. They gave us the impression that we were their primary and most important client and proceeded from there. A number of potential buyers showed interest with one particular client leading. Stephen and Joanna worked around answering questions and solving issues and brought the procedure to a successful conclusion. MJ and KJ

... We immediately connected, and I knew we had found the perfect agent. He is so much more than a realtor - he's an incredibly kind human with a keen eye for EXACTLY what his clients are looking for, and his joie de vivre is absolutely infectious. He and his partner Joanna Szwyd helped us find our dream home in the Berkshires, and went above and beyond every step of the way. They gave us careful instruction and guidance on the local market, helped us find a lawyer and inspector, and even supervised our movers when we couldn't be on site. Stephen and Joanna were the absolute best real estate agents - they are the definition of people who go out of their way to build community in this market. We highly recommend them... to anyone searching for a home in the Berkshires. Aoife & Eric Jacobsen, Richmond, MA

Stephen and Joanna are excellent real estate agents. They both understand that their job is not only to get you the house that fits your needs, but also to support your efforts along the way. We were able to get a home that exactly fit what we were looking for through Joanna's endless patience, at a fair price guided by Stephen with the support and direction of both. They go above and beyond helping you acclimate even after you have already made your home purchase. You could never ask for better! Heidi and Michael, The Berkshires
