Spanning both Stamford and Greenwich sits an extraordinary property that transports you to an entirely different region of the world. Gwen (June) Ketchum is the granddaughter of Rose and Ernest and lived in the original cottage when she was born while her father completed their home further down June Road. She is one of the last descendants of Rose and Ernest that is still living on the road that carries her family’s namesake.
“It was a beautiful property and still is to this day,” Ketchum said. “The original cottage that is no longer there was primitive compared to what resides on the land today. One story I do recall is when I was younger my family had a dog that would keep me away from one of the cliffs on the property so I wouldn’t get hurt.”

“My great grandfather’s family had almost 300 acres of land at one point,” Ketchum said. “Around 1914 he had a skunk farm where he raised over 500 skunks, because at the time black skunk fur was perceived as very valuable. I do go back to visit the property often. In fact there is still a huge oak tree on the property that was there when I was a child. I bring my grandchildren to look at the barn all the time.”
